My 23rd Anniversary…

Hey, here it is only 3 days since my last post and here I am again…. I’ve started a new painting in progress and I’ll put up another installment today.  I wanted to congratulate myself on the start of my 24th year of supporting myself with my artwork.  It hasn’t always been easy, but for the last 10 years or so, I’ve become almost middle class! The most recent 2 years however have been most trying, as the economy flushes the idea of luxury purchases out of many peoples’ heads. While it’s true times have been tough, I still consider myself to be very fortunate to pursue work I love, not to mention getting to work at home with my cat sitting on my drafting table. Sometimes I even work in my pj’s! does it get any better than that?  It’s also given me a little space to pursue other creative directions, primarily cartooning, which granted has not been a financial windfall (yet) and children’s book writing and illustration.  I’m working on a book project that I hope to complete this year and start showing to agents and publishers.  I’ll let you know what happens. In the meantime, you’ll find me in my studio, painting away, with my cat supervising every brushstroke!

A more complete description of what is happening in this stage of my painting in progress is on the current “In Progress” page. Check it out!

  1. Anne – I answered your comment on my blog about artists’ business models and agree that many business models are broken today.

Would love to talk with you more about this – and we’re over due for a phone call. SOON!
